Color in the glass resembles, as much as anything, prune juice. I’m getting woody, earthy things on the nose. Some cassis hit on the tip of the tongue, but it’s really more of a dried fruit thing than fresh fruit. Some, mid-palate bitterness, although I see how some tasters might call that tobacco or cigar box. The wine has a strange, watery consistency—not mouth-filling at all. Had this at dinner the other night. Went very well with my steak. Has a great deep color. Plum and Cherries on the nose and in the mouth. A good wine but did not overly impress me.
To me this is one of the great values in Cali Cabs. It is big with tons of ripe fruit. I usually don't like to pay over $15 for a bottle of juice, but this one is worth it. A true fruit-forward Sonoma beast. One of the least expensive ways to access the best of California Cabernet. Drink it slowly, and let it breath for a few hours.

Dark ruby red. Medium-bodied. Moderately extracted. Moderately tannic. Cassis, mineral, brown spice. Dark, fleshy nose lead a tight, minerally palate showing good grip, with generous Cabernet flavors showing through. A lighter style whose tannins are in fine balance.
Concentrated red and black fruit with spice, herbs, and hints of leather, cedar, bay leaf, and olive; full bodied and well balanced. Moussaka.
Tight and trim, with a focused, austere band of spicy currant, cedar and cherry. Turns supple at midpalate and softens a bit on the finish, where the flavors spread out. Best from 1999 through 2005.
This is the driest, most concentrated and sophisticated of Kenwood's current trio of Merlots, and also the only one that will benefit from cellaring. It's compact in blackberry, currant, tea, leather and spice flavors that finish with a scour of tannins. Best 2008-2011. - S.H. ** Only 9 in Stock **
Winemaker's Notes: The Jack London Merlot is known for the excellent structure and age ability of its intense ripe flavors. Rich, full-bodied mouth feel with aromas of red currents, tobacco and bay leaves. Flavors of vanilla and ripe plum, with an elegant, lingering finish. The rich fruit flavors found in this Merlot complement a wide range of dishes, including chicken, braised beef, rich stews and pastas.
Dark, rich and complex, with earthy clay, currant. black cherry, anise and cedar notes, finishing with a slightly green tannic edge. Best from 2001 through 2009.
