What to Expect

California has long struggled with Pinot Noir. Finding the right vineyards for this most fickle of grape, one that enjoys a cool growing season yet needs warmth close to harvest to fully ripen, has proven a challenge in such a sunny state. Cooler areas eventually became identified; the Santa Rita Hills, Russian River Valley and Mendocino's Anderson valley are all prime spots for Pinot Noir in California. Unlike the lighter colored and sometimes delicate Pinots of Burgundy, California produces many rich, deep Pinots full of slightly chewy dark berry and cherry fruits with hints of cola, Asian spices and forest floor frequently adding complexity.

Kenneth Volk really hits the bullseye with this Pinot. Signing loan documents for a new home can be considerably stressful, but after 2.5 glasses of KVPN, the loan doc signing flowed like the ruby rich garnet colored elixier. What a treat to share among friends or family. A real crowd pleaser for both rookies and seasoned veterans alike. Run, don't walk to your nearest Ken Volk wine dealer and explore pinot noir and the dark side of the wine world.

Kenneth Volk has been producing wines in the Santa Maria Valley for over a quarter of a century. He is especially known for making Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This Pinot Noir show bright floral notes, with hints of fresh raspberry and cola. A well-balanced wine.
