Kendall Jackson Vintners's Reserve Merlot Sonoma County 2009
Editorial Reviews for Kendall Jackson Vintners's Reserve Merlot Sonoma County
This smells sweet and fruit with an immediate hit of wild cherry candy and vanilla on the nose that reminds me of cherry coke or something similar. Aromatically monolithic with some oak nuances and a hint of bay leaf emerging with time. Showing decent balance in the mouth, this delivers a nice hit of cherry pie filling with flourishes of cinnamon and bitter chocolate shavings before becoming dominated by dry woody tannins on the backend. The tannins take full control on the short, dry finish. 83pts
Vibrant ruby red color, cedar and red berry aromas, pomegranate and cherry flavors, medium mouthfeel and finish.
My first dip into the Merlot world. a very nice flavorful body with a not overpowering kick of tannic in the end. I'm most definately a fan.

Intricate layers of black cherry, plum, currant, and wild berry flavors with a hint of spice. The soft, delicate tannins of this Bordeaux varietal carry these aromas and flavors to a long lingering finish.
A fine, complex Merlot, appealing for its array of cherry, smoked meat, balsam, soy and pepper flavors. Shows lots of class and finesse for the price.
The 2008 Vintnerrsquo;s Reserve Merlot (98% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc aged 14 months in two-thirds French and one-third American oak) exhibits a dark plum color along with notes of cherry cola, raspberry, garrigue, loamy soil and spice box. This medium-bodied, juicy Merlot is somewhat monolithic, but it displays an appropriate varietal character. Drink it over the next 2ndash;3 years.
