Kendall-Jackson Vintners Reserve Chardonnay 2007

Quality Chardonnay for the price. Very clean look and a crisp taste. Light bodied and smooth mouth feel. Noted pineapple and tropical fruit tastes with slight dryness. Finish was pleasant but didn't last too long. All in all a descent Chardonnay.

The offering that made the Vintner's Reserve series such a huge hit with American consumers is K-J's Chardonnay. There are an astonishing three million cases of the Chardonnay Vintner's Reserve. It is produced from 100% Chardonnay grown in coastal vineyards, is 100% barrel-fermented, and, as one of the winemakers pointed out, if the barrels were laid end to end, they would extend for 41 miles! The residual sugar is low (about .5 - .6), so the wine tastes essentially dry.

The exhibits surprisingly good tropical fruit characteristics along with a subtle whiff of spice. read more...It is light to medium-bodied and refreshing, with admirable flavor intensity as well as texture (something many Chardonnays at 3-5 times the price lack). This wine is meant to be drunk during its first 12-14 months of life. I have talked to many of the talented winemakers who have worked at Kendall-Jackson, and they are all impressed by the meticulous attention to detail and overall commitment this cuvee receives.

Forward fruit flavors and aromas of peach, green apple, melon and tropical fruit are layered with butterscotch and oak. Lush and rich with balanced acidity, this wine is delicious as an aperitif or a complement to a wide array of dishes, including grilled fish, shellfish, roasted chicken and creamy style pastas.
