Editorial Reviews for Kendall-Jackson Syrah California Vintner's Reserve

Fresh and nicely focused on the nose with clean, cedary oak supporting red currant and raspberry fruit topped with some floral violet and vegetal nuances. Low acid and soft on entry, this is rich with black cherry and blackberry fruit over a base of leather, toast and vanilla with a nice edgy feel to the modest tannins and a hint of tar on the back end. The finish is quite attractive with very nice balance between the rather rich fruit and the firm tannins. Perhaps a bit simple, this is nonetheless well-balanced and tasty. 86pts

This California Meritage is made from all five of the classic Bordeaux varietals - cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot. It is garnet-black in colour with deep intensity. The nose has aromas of cherry, green bramble, coffee and dark chocolate. The balance is satisfactory. Plum and chocolate on the palate with a medium, slightly bitter finish.

Deep but bright fruit on the nose, smooth oak and balanced tannins, lingers nicely in the back of the throat

Brought this wine to Hollywood Bowl on 27 July 2011 for the Ingram/Knight concert. It went well with the chicken we also brought. It had a fruity taste that went well with the chicken.

It had a good smokey berry taste, good mix of flavor and hearty taste.

This is really quite a successful wine. It shows an array of ripe, juicy blackberry, cherry, plum, coffee and spice flavors that are wrapped in rich tannins, a big wine with some true elegance.

Smooth as melted chocolate, full of cherry flavor, this chewy syrah is broad and simple. Serve it cool at a cookout.

The 1998 Syrah Vintnerrsquo;s Reserve exhibits chocolate, blackberry and pepper-like aromas, medium body, and abundant fruit in its soft personality.

With KJrsquo;s vast grape sourcing, getting ripe fruit obviously wasnrsquo;t a problem. This wine is ripe and juicy, with somewhat candied berry flavors and sweet caramelly notes. Soft and easy to drink.

Bold, concentrated aromas and flavors of wild berry, spice and smoke. Lush and full on the palate, showing elegance through the lingering finish.

This is a young, sharp, jammy wine but has a depth of fruit and a rich structure that make it awfully likeable. Blackberries, cherries, blueberries, cocoa, coffee, it all adds up to a palate sensation.

Winemaker's Notes:

Summation, our white wine blend, mingles refreshing flavors of honeydew melon, apricot, pink grapefruit and white pepper. Added hints of honeysuckle and a creamy mouthfeel result in a soft, dry wine that is excellent for food pairing or simply sipping.
