Kendall Jackson Pinot Gris Vintner's Reserve 2016

External Review by We Speak Wine:

WINEMAKING PHILOSOPHY: For over three decades, Kendall-Jackson has remained relentlessly committed to producing only the finest quality wines from grapes grown in California’s cool, coastal vineyards. We carefully match climates and soil types for each grape varietal, and then guide each vineyard lot throughout the entire winemaking process. KEY POINTS: • Anchored by grapes from Monterey’s cool, windswept vineyards, Pinot Gris’ wide range of fruit flavors and naturally bright acidity take center stage. • Stainless steel fermentation retains Pinot Gris’ vivid fruit qualities and bright, juicy texture, enhancing the pear, honeydew and tangerine flavors inherent to the grape. • The wine is blended with a touch of the Rhone varietals such as Roussanne and Viognier, along with Chardonnay and Albariño, which contribute layers of richness as well as a subtle floral notes. TASTING NOTES: This wine contains ripe, crisp citrus flavors with rich aromas of tropical mango, melon, pear and juicy peach. The bright fruit flavors and layered texture contribute to this wine’s versatility. - Randy ULLOM, Winemaster COMPOSTION: 77% Pinot Gris 6% Muscat 6% Roussanne 4% Viognier 4% Chardonnay 3% Albariño and other TA: 0.61g/100mL pH: 3.46 ALCOHOL: 13.5%

Jess Stonestreet Jackson, founder of Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates, was a legend in the wine industry. Thanks to his dedication and skill, he popularized Chardonnay in the United States, with the best-selling Chardonnay in America for over 20 years. In 1983, just one year after he founded Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates, his Chardonnay won the first double Platinum Award ever given by the American Wine Competition. Jackson passed away on April 21, 2011, at the age of 81, leaving behind the highest-selling brand of “super-premium” wine in the United States. In 1974, Jess Jackson and his wife, Jane Kendall, purchased and converted a pear and walnut orchard in Lakeport, California into a vineyard. In 1982, a downturn in the grape market discouraged Jackson from selling grapes, so he took the opportunity to create his own winery, Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates. This was a wise decision, since today, with 14,000 acres across California’s Sonoma County and numerous distinctions, Kendall-Jackson is one of the most successful wineries in America. Read less
