Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay Santa Barbara County Great Estates 2007
Quality Chardonnay for the price. Very clean look and a crisp taste. Light bodied and smooth mouth feel. Noted pineapple and tropical fruit tastes with slight dryness. Finish was pleasant but didn't last too long. All in all a descent Chardonnay.
This is a chardonnay made in a European style, I could be easily fooled into thinking it came from Burgundy or the Loire. Nose of mild dried flowers mixed with compost, almost a farm smell, balanced in the mouth with light and airy body and mild flavor similar to (dry) white grape juice with a hint of lemon and a citrus finish. Not much glyercin feel.
Quality chardonnay at a good price. Excellent with Chicken. Great cooking wine as well.
The wine has a light golden color. It's mellowed some from the same vintage I opened last year. Aromas of lemon, green apple and vanilla. The palate is dominated by citrus- lemon and grapefruit with a touch of sweetness. There's a moderate amount of acidity for balance. It's medium-dry with a nice richness to the mouthfeel. A bit of toasted oak is evident on the smooth medium finish.
Decent Chardonnay, but not as flowing on the palate as some
I love this Chardonnay! Similar to the 2006, the 2007 may be even richer. Very full in flavor yet with a pitch-perfect level of balancing acidity. Rich, complex aromas and flavors include peach, apricot, and tropical fruits along with an orange-citrus edge, some slight oak toastiness and a sweet straw/leesy element. Mouth-coating richness and long finish, with not a hint of cloying over-ripeness or sweetness. Very fairly priced for the quality level.
Though this wine is made in a similar style every year, I think the 2007 is my favorite vintage yet for the Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay. In fact, I found it as tasty as the slightly more expensive Grand Reserve Chardonnay - which is also an incredible bargain. Full, round, harmonious Chardonnay with plenty of tropical fruit flavors and spice along with enough acidity to keep it clean and refreshing. Amazing buy, especially when you can find it on sale at a place like Safeway for under $10.

There are nearly 260,000 cases of the 2007 Grand Reserve Chardonnay, which comes from Jess Jackson's estate holdings in Santa Barbara and Monterey. Some serious vineyards' fruit is included in this wine, which no doubt explains the big, tropical fruit-scented nose, fine acidity, and medium to full-bodied flavors. Despite the fact that this cuvée sees 100% barrel fermentation with full malolactic, there is little evidence of oak. The wine is aged eight months, on its lees, in one-third French oak. It is an amazing Chardonnay for the price.
The 1997 Chardonnay Grand Reserve aged in 50% new oak exhibits a creamy, honeysuckle, ripe tropical fruit-scented nose with smoky oak in the background. It is a medium to full-bodied, ripe, lush, pure Chardonnay with a succulent, fat texture. Enjoy it over the next 1-2 years.
Produced from Jess Jackson's vineyards in Santa Barbara, Monterey, and Sonoma. It possesses plenty of ripe tropical fruit, medium body, more oak, but less charm than the Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay, largely because of the wood component.
