This California white offers bright, juicy green apple, pineapple and lemon fruit, nice minerality, refreshing acidity and excellent balance and structure with a long finish.

  Jess Stonestreet Jackson, founder of Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates, was a legend in the wine industry. Thanks to his dedication and skill, he popularized Chardonnay in the United States, with the best-selling Chardonnay in America for over 20 years. In 1983, just one year after he founded Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates, his Chardonnay won the first double Platinum Award ever given by the American Wine Competition. Jackson passed away on April 21, 2011, at the age of 81, leaving behind the highest-selling brand of “super-premium” wine in the United States. In 1974, Jess Jackson and his wife, Jane Kendall, purchased and converted a pear and walnut orchard in Lakeport, California into a vineyard. In 1982, a downturn in the grape market discouraged Jackson from selling grapes, so he took the opportunity to create his own winery, Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates. This was a wise decision, since today, with 14,000 acres across California’s Sonoma County and numerous distinctions, Kendall-Jackson is one of the most successful wineries in America. Read less

Vivid, crisp and bright - the brand new Avant Chardonnay continues the nearly three decades of pioneering distinguished varietal wines from California's cool coastal appellations. Avant is very different from KJ's traditional rich, creamy styles of Chardonnay. Wine Enthusiast Magazine said "This unoaked Chardonnay represents its genre beautifully. This unoaked Chardonnay represents its genera beautifully. It has fresh apple aromas with a hint of honey, just-ripe pear flavors, good acidity and a relaxed texture. Very refreshing, bright and easy to enjoy.

The slightly more expensive 2013 Chardonnay Avant comes from their vineyards in Santa Barbara, Mendocino and Monterey. Half of it’s fermented in neutral oak and the balance in stainless steel. But again, the emphasis is on fresh, melony, apple-skin and vague tropical fruits in an uncomplicated and naked, zesty style. This is medium-bodied and there are 160,000 cases of it. These wines are meant to be drunk in their first 12–16 months of life after release.
