Kendall-Jackson Cabernet Sauvignon California 2007
On the nose: blackberry, molasses and sweet black cherry. Smooth attack with medium acidity. Soft mineral and eucalyptus notes, before a finish of young tight tannins. Meaty, almost syrah like finish of bitter chocolate. Lengthy tannins persist, the wine should age well.
Dark fruit, smooth and medium/low acidity. I thought the wine was crisp and pleasant. Small hint of chocolate and carmel. Perfect pairing with dinner - steak, lamb and casserole.
Well balanced, heavy with berries and a long finish.

Rating: 86/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. The considerable sweetness of this wine's inviting aromas is very much dependent on its fairly extravagant oak, yet the fruit that lies underneath is a touch taut and tangy and is both lifted and limited by acidity. There is a fairly good chance that a few years of smoothing will see this one relax and open, but until then it comes up short of endorsement.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.
Crisp, with firm tannins and just enough spicy currant and berry flavor to give it the depth and complexity you might hope for at the price.
'Opens with deep black cherry, blackberry and cassis flavors. Intense, round and well-structured tannins provide a strong backbone throughout the middle. Cedar and vanilla notes linger on the finish, beckoning another sip.' - Randy Ullom, Winemaster
Deep reddish purple. Medium-bodied. Highly extracted. Mildly tannic. Mint, vanilla, black fruits. Attractive mint-nuanced aromas. Solid chewy Cabernet fruit on the palate gives way to dry, powdery tannins through the finish. Good acids give this a tart edge.
The 2002 Grand Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (mostly Sonoma with small dosages of Mendocino and Napa fruit) is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 16 months in French oak, of which 51% is new. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by sweet aromas of vanilla, crushed rocks, black currants, spice box, and tobacco smoke. Medium-bodied, with fine ripeness as well as moderate tannin, it will age nicely for a decade.
Layers of blackberry, raspberry and mocha flavors are rounded off with black cherry, currant, cassis, and tobacco. Intense, yet polished with sturdy tannins. Richness of fruit and a sturdy backbone of tannin give this wine class and a unique style. This wine is to savor now or cellar for future enjoyment.
