Ken Wright Pinot Noir Willamette Valley Meredith Mitchell Vineyard 2009
This wine is Ken Wright Cellars' first blend that encompasses all of its single-vineyard Pinot Noir sites -- including Abbott Claim, Canary Hill, Carter, Freedom Hill, Guadalupe, McCrone, Meredith Mitchell, Nysa and Savoya vineyards. Ken Wright says: This blend is extremely enjoyable, lush and full of pure Pinot fruit.
Tasted from Barrel at the winery, Memorial Day 2010. This wine is already showing wondefully complex notes of blackberry and graham cracker. This was darker than most of the other's we tasted at the winery and definitely one we will be purchasing upon release. Note: 2009 is looking like it will be a "drink now" sort of vintage like 2006
We found it to be very elegant without much tannins. As it opened up it seemed to get a bit more complex. We paired it with a panko crusted flounder and some salmon sashimi - it was very food friendly.

Vivid ruby. Intense, spice-accented aromas of blackberry, cherry compote and underbrush, with mocha and vanilla nuances emerging with air. Juicy and focused in the mouth, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and a hint of bitter chocolate. Fi... Stephen Tanzers IWC. The Canary Hill vineyard is located at the southern end of the Eola Hills, which are covered with southeast-facing vines. This wine shows good complexity and concentration, with intense flavors of red currant, cola, and cranberry.
Dense and firm with dark, dark fruit - blackberry, black raspberry, liorice and spice. One for the cellar.
One of Oregon Pinot Noir specialist Ken Wrightrsquo;s new releases, this has a purity of flavors and a graceful balance that are totally disarming. A seductive wine, its pretty raspberry, black cherry and floral aromas and flavors linger enticingly on the open-textured finish. best from 2001 through 2008.
Bright ruby. Sexy aromas of raspberry preserves, vanilla and mocha, with a hint of orange peel adding lift and an exotic touch. Juicy and very fresh, offering sappy red fruit flavors that pick up a refreshingly bitter edge on the back half. Shows a hint of warmth on the finish, which features jammy red berry character and a late note of white pepper.
The 2009 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard is my personal favorite. It offers up an inviting nose of balsam wood, exotic spices, incense, black cherry, and black raspberry. This leads to a velvety-textured, layered, plush, nicely proportioned wine with excellent balance, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. This pure, intense Pinot has the stuffing to evolve for another 1–2 years and will deliver prime drinking from 2012 to 2021.
