The nose isn't particularly offensive with over-ripe fruit. Initial palate is likewise deep ripe currant and plum, but very heavy Latakia-tinted tobacco comes on strong. Perhaps if you really, really dig tobacco flavored wine you'll like this one. But there's a disturbing chemical finish that's really very awful. I agree with the "avoid" review.
Enjoyed this little gem with pork ribs from the barbeque - the combination heightened the smokey tinge while opening up the black currant I look for. This is a pinotage that is ready to drink.
Like lots of the stronger pinotages, this one tasted of corn and petroleum, trailed by dark berries. As unflattering as this description sounds, I liked it. Because of its savory, gamey quality, it pairs well with goat and sheep cheeses. It was wonderful with a Manchego cheese.
