Kellerei-Cantina Tramin Gewürztraminer Alto Adige Südtirol Vendemmia Tardiva Terminum 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Alto Adige is the northern part of the Trentino-Alto Adige region of Italy that borders the Austrian Tyrol. It was ceded to Italy only after the First World War. This region owes its Italian name of "Alto-Adige" to the river Adige that flows through on its way to the Adriatic. The sleepy village of Termeno/Tramin is thought to be the birthplace of the Traminer white grape variety, also known as Gewurztraminer. In 2004 Will Strz, the winemaker at Tramin, was nominated "Italian winemaker of the Year" by the prestigious Gambero Rosso and makes some of the best white wines in Italy. Tramin proudly holds the "Stella", the star awarded to a winery for achieving the prestigious "3 Bicchieri" 10 times. Vintage: 2009 Grapes: 100% Gewurztraminer Harvest: By hand Yield: 55HL per hectare Soil: Clay and calcareous Height: 300Mm-450M above sea level Winemaking: The grapes were softly pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery.
