Keenan Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Sweet fruit, smoke, tar, and burnt chocolate, a little peppery with lightly minty, eucalyptus tones. . Big on entry, lots of tannins and acid, a rich, slightly chewy, slightly rustic Cabernet with lots of fruit but neither sweet nor sticky. There’s a bit of oaken char on the mid-palate adding some bitterness with rich black currant fruit accented with a bit of mint. It’s all cut by mineral and cocoa tones that lead to the moderately long, slightly hot finish. This frankly tannic wine needs some time to settle down but has the stuffing and balance to age well. 93pts
