Kanu Chenin Blanc Stellenbosch 2009
Pale straw colour. Intriguing nose of green melon, nectarines and honeysuckle contrasting with a more savoury celery salt character. Playful spiciness lingers in the background. A broad mid-palate underpinned by a lively apply acid structure. Lifted floral notes make this wine multidimensional in character. An ideal summer wine to be enjoyed with salads, chargrilled artichokes in olive oil or platters of ripe summer fruit. Also matches fresh line fish and light, cream-based pastas. A perfect picnic wine.
Editorial Reviews for Kanu Chenin Blanc Stellenbosch
Aromas of honeycomb, flowers and lemon curd jump from the glass. On entry this is a bit soft and spreads out gently on the palate with good acids and a medium bodied feel. The flavors are gently honied with a touch of mineral and lightly creamy citrus tones, with a nice, fresh lemon verbena element on the pretty long finish. This is complex and rich with a nice smooth texture and fine balance. Perfect for a meaty white fish in a simple cream sauce with some capers as an accent. 87pts
Nice bouquet--light and not overpowering, kind of like thyme?? Slightly buttery, medium acidity, medium finish. Would go well with chicken, whether mild or spicy, maybe a mild sausage or pork dish as well. Would buy again.
The nose is playful, with cherries, stone fruits, and herbs. The mouth has some sweetness and good acidity and minerality. Well balanced, enjoyable to drink.
Light steely bready nose. Amazingly creamy thick mouthfeel with lemon and dry bakery notes. Complex and light - really really like this.
Apple, mangoes, tropical fruits and a hint of passion fruit. Nicely crisp and yet just enough sweetness to be able to enjoy with meals and after a meal. Perfect summer wine.
Pear and lanolin in nose with musty, earthy aromas. Dry with a great finish, but maybe a little hollow mid-palate.
excellent value. sour papayas and pineapple for days.

In South African legend, Kanu was a bird who promised a bountiful harvest to all who passed under its shadow. The makers of this dry and delicate Chenin Blanc must have been directly under its flight path, because this bottle is bursting with fresh, full tropical fruit flavors, layered over a subtle mineral base. Drink this on its own or take advantage of its great acidity by pairing it with light hors d'oeuvres.
In der Nase explodieren exotische Aromen. Der Gaumen präsentiert sich voll, reich und kräftig, die Komplexität des Weines endet in einem lange anhaltenden Finish.
