Aromas of spicy black fruits with complex citrus notes of orange. The palate has a driving mix of savoury mouth filling layers of spicy dark berry fruits. This wine is full and textured with wonderful integrated oak all combining beautifully with an abundance of soft sweet tannins.

The 2007 Shiraz (92%)-Viognier (8%) was aged for 14 months in new French oak. The Kangarilla Road winery and vineyard are nestled in the McLaren Ranges only a mile or two from the McLaren Vale Township. This location encourages slower ripening of the fruit in their 30 acre vineyard which helps to produce wines with finesse and elegance, yet with plenty of flavor. Some of the Shiraz vines date back to 1975. For this wine they've selected grapes from a particularly outstanding plot of old vines Shiraz and co-fermented it with a small amount (8%) of Viognier and aged it 14 months in French oak barrels. The resulting wine shows enhanced aromatics, complexity and bright forward flavors. The Wine Advocate noted the "Opaque purple-colored" and the "splendid nose of pain grille, violets, lavender, pepper, and blueberry uplifted by the Viognier component." Limited!
