Kaiken Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Deep red colour. In the nose, a wine of intense aromas reminiscent of ripe plums and strawberries, and the soft vanilla notes that come from oak aging. Soft and fresh in the mouth with a pleasant finish, when the fruitiness of the wine makes a comeback.

It was precisely the wines of Argentina that attracted Montes into that country. For that same reason we imposed upon ourselves, right from the start, in 2001, the task of acquiring for KAIKEN the best grapes produced in the area. We went through all the best grape producing estates, finally deciding for the exceptional quality of that in the First Zone (Maipú, Cruz de Piedra, Ugarteche, Agrelo) as well as from Valle de Uco. Along with a hard selection of the best producers, we meticulously supervise each step and work in the vineyard from start to finish of each growing season, observing well each little detail. This, to attain the full potential from the best grapes. Read less

Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

big red fruit with coffee on the nose. you can smell a bit of acidity that definitely comes through on the back end. coming in at 14.5%, definitely noticeable. possibly decanting for an hour might cut the acidity...very bright red fruits on the palate with a bit of cinnamon on the midpalate..

The wine was good it had interesting flavors and a decent linger. It was definitely worth the money but not the most stunning wine.

"Kaiken Ultra Cabernet 2006 has an intense ruby red color

Muscular, with a hint of funk (that blows off quickly) followed by black currant, espresso, bittersweet chocolate and loam flavors. Concentrated on the finish. For fans of the style. Drink now through 2007.

Clumsy at first, but admittedly tasted a month prior to release. Time frees up deep, sturdy fruit overlayed with a sheet of creamy oak that yields vanilla, resin and subtle spice flavors. Chunky and ripe; the berry fruit is 100% mature. Will knit together with more time in bottle. Better in 2006.

Kaiken Ultra Cabernet 2006 has an intense ruby red color, the wine showcases red fruits flavors with spices and cedar notes, a wine of elegant notes and great complexity on the nose. On the mouth we find a unique combination between the Cabernet Sauvignons intensity, provided by the vines located in our vineyard in Agrelo combined by the silkiness of the tannins given by the old vines located in the first zone.
