Juve Y Camps Brut Nature Reserva de la Familia Vintage Spain 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Reserva de la Familia is the flagship cuvee of the Juve y Camps estate winery. In the beginning days of their winemaking, the Juve y Camps family had their own reserve of this Cava, and it is still the only Brut Nature that they make. Made from the free run juic e of traditional varieties Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Parellada and a touch of Chardonnay, this is the Cava of choice of Spain's royal family, and it is regularly served at all official banquets.

TASTING NOTES: Pale gold in color, this Cava has aromas of mature white peach, toasted bread and green tea with hints of lemon c itrus and apricots. Equally rich and broad on the palate, these flavors continue to unfold on the palate.

His son, Antoni Juvé Escaiola continued producing wine at the family estate in San Sadurní d’Anoia and took the initiative to replant their vineyards during the Phylloxera blight, able to restore their business as soon as the grafting “cure” was realized. In 1921, the first wine under the official Juvé y Camps label was produced by Joan Juvé Baqués and his wife Teresa Camps Farré. Today, the winery is known for its fine examples of sparkling wines, made in the traditional method in both vintage and non-vintage releases. Read less

A beautiful golden color with a superb mousse. Its aroma is complex, elegant, and intense. Almost immediately it evokes the flavors of fleshy fruit (peach and melon) and lactic notes. Gradually its aroma develops, gaining intensity and, above all, complexity. In it we can distinguish notes of honey, grapefruit and toast. It is exuberant on the palate. Its intense and friendly, effervescence fills the mouth with a magnificent creaminess. With a remarkable unctuousness, its mouthfeel is both strong and fresh. This splendid cava has a long-lasting aromatic finish.

Tasting Notes:

The mousse on this wine is strong, as is the autolytic character of yeast, showing toast, brioche, and fresh dough. But the wine has other aromas and flavors to impart, including yellow apple, beeswax, orange, and stones. This is the sort of wine you can throw in people’s faces when they tell you all Cava tastes the same.
