Justin Vineyards & Winery Savant Paso Robles 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

Full on the palate with very ripe lush black fruit and baking spice on the entry followed with dried savory herbs, cracked black pepper and smoky elements going into the mid-palate. The finish is very long and complex with a mix of returning ripe fruit, chocolate and chewy tannins as it slowly unfolds. The 2014 SAVANT is a bold, complex wine that combines the intensity of a Paso syrah with the complexity that cabernet sauvignon brings to the table.

Savory and spicy on the nose and quite concentrated with dark black currant and blackberry preserve notes and powerful sweet spice. Richly flavorful and full on the palate, still this is deceptive and seems lighter than it is. Flavors are well developed and complex with dark chocolate and raspberry flavors set against darker black cherry and blackberry fruit, ending with more chocolate and smoke.

Big, deep blackberry and cassis notes, a dollop of ink, and a slight anise note dominate the syrah drive. Slight lead-pencil and woodsy aromas emerge from the solid cabernet sauvignon presence. On the palate you'll find ripe black fruit with a satisfying palate intensity with dry long flavors framed by savvy-spicy syrah barrel maturation and cabernet sauvignon structure.

Mainly Syrah, with Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was made with free run juice, which gives it very pure, strong fruit flavors and almost none of the earthiness you might want for balance in a complex red wine. It's also very new oaky. The result is massive cherry, raspberry, cola and bacon flavors that are jammy and sweet. - S.H. Tight and focused on red berry and plum flavors, with touches of spice, cedar and mineral. This is medium- to full-bodied and delicate. Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2016. 2,000 cases made. -JL ** Only 4 in Stock **

Winemaker Notes - Color: Deep purple, solid to the rim. Glossy and concentrated. Aroma: Big, deep blackberry and cassis notes, a dollop of ink, and a slight anise note dominate the syrah drive. Slight lead-pencil and woodsy aromas emerge from the solid cabernet sauvignon presence. Palate: A bold and deep flavored dry wine with black fruit richness and concentration. Spicy, lush, exotic, and long.
