Juslyn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District Vineyard Select 2005
[95 pts Wine Advocate] The full-bodied 2005 Perry's Blend is a combination of estate fruit and purchased grapes. It is a wine of extraordinary elegance and precision displaying a sweet expansive nose of spring flowers black currants and hints of blueberries as well as crushed rocks. An ethereal lightness and overall harmony give the wine a Bordeaux-like framework. It possesses terrific purity and depth and a sweetness to the tannin that suggests it can be drunk now or cellared for 15+ years.
Editorial Reviews for Juslyn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District Vineyard Select
This is youthful and packed with fresh black cherry fruit, chipotle, some well integrated wood spice, a fine faint grassy tone, a top not of vanilla and a vein of grilled steak with A1 sauce. Cool and crisp in the mouth with excellent focus and good depth. This is a big wine but it’s also quite elegant with spice and mineral notes offering fine cut on the palate and great persistence of fresh black fruit on the long finish. This is still tight and probably needs another 3 years to hit its stride. A great showing today. 94pts
Full and deep on the nose with an underlying herb and rocky soil tone upon which are layered of ripe red currant, dried green chili, carob, light notes of woodspice and cedar and gentle top notes hinting at flowers. Very fresh and light on entry though this immediately displays a layered attack of licorice, bittersweet chocolate, and dried cherry fruit. The tannins are present, and slightly drying but the don’t effect the texture of the wine which remains cool and crisp. A rather firm yet elegant style of Cabernet with full ripeness though the fruit retains a tell tale vegetal note in the mouth which turns quite aromatic and minty on the long, elegant finish which ends with a nutty, chocolaty note and a tiny bit of heat. A wine with a future though aromatically and texturally it is terrific today. 92pts
