Wine Advocate #168 (Dec 2006) From the 7-acre estate vineyard (Juslyn owns a total of 40 acres), the deep, dark ruby/purple-hued 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot) exhibits notions of crushed rocks, subtle oak, blackberries, blueberries, and cherries. It possesses full body, excellent purity, a multidimensional mid-palate as well as texture, and a lovely finish. Still young and unevolved, it should hit its peak in 3-5 years, and last for two decades. As I have written before, Carolyn and Perry Butler have quickly made Juslyn one of the finest sources of top quality wine on Spring Mountain. They planted their estate vineyard in 1997 and have been sourcing high quality grapes from several of Andy Beckstoffer's top Napa Valley vineyards.
