Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

This is a new project between winemakers Chris Ringland and Trevor Jones, and innovative importer Dan Philips. There are 350 cases of this 100% Shiraz produced from a single vineyard planted in 1960, and aged completely in new French oak for 30 months. The beautiful 2002 Shiraz boasts a gorgeous perfume of acacia flowers, blackberry liqueur, melted licorice, espresso roast, and a hint of white chocolate. Full-bodied, dense, and profoundly concentrated, with stunning layers of flavor as well as magnificent length, this wine should evolve and drink well for 12ndash;15 years.

It will be interesting to see what the price will be for this 260-case cuveacute;e (from an 80-year-old vineyard) fashioned by the impressive trio of Dan Philips, Trevor Jones, and Chris Ringland. A single vineyard Shiraz from the Ebenezer district aged 36 months in A.P. John French oak barrels, it is closest in quality to the Roennfeldt Road cuvees from Greenock Creek. An inky/blue/purple color is followed by aromas of ink, graphite, blackberries, blueberries, and flowers. With fabulous concentration, superb purity, and surprisingly fresh acidity as well as density, this amazing Shiraz should be enjoyed between 2009ndash;2020+.
