Josh Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

"An approachable blend with aromas of rich, dark fruit and baking spices on the nose yielding to fresh plum, blackberry, violet, dried fig, vanilla bean and Chinese five-spice. The wine is juicy with plum and blackberry flavors, prominently layered with smoky and sappy maple oak, roasted almonds and hazelnuts. Finishes long with fine, firm tannins." Winery

Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

(2012 vintage) Became one of my best selling Cabernets as soon as I put it on the shelf. It's dry, but fruity, I taste Apple Cider, Oak, and dark fruit, Finish is remarkably smooth and elegant "silky" for a cabernet in this price range. Probably a great vintage for them, get it while it's available.

Dark purple wine with few legs, but the ones that it has are long, lean, and fast. A good deep wine with an earthy, chocolaty nose. Lots of dark fruits, and spice on the tongue with a long, dark cocoa finish. Very well balanced.

This wine is smooth, wonderful with steak. Easy to drink the whole bottle but great to share over a nice meal.

When Joseph Carr wanted to create a second wine after his famed Napa Cabernet he worked with vineyard owner Tom Larson and sourced a high altitude vineyard in the Red Hills appellation. Organically grown and sustainably farmed for 10 years, the vineyard is in a region that sits at the highest section between the Mayacamas and Vaca mountains. An eastern facing slope above 1,200 feet brings full sunlight that's tempered by the cool, cool nights. Grapes ripen slowly and fully, with richness and complexity. The wine is vinified just like his Napa Cab and then aged in French and American oak 16 months. It shows bold flavors of black currant, black cherry and spice with supple tannins and a lingering finish. A seriously good value!
