Josetta Saffirio Barbera d'Alba 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Aged 1 year in 30 HL Botte Ivy and violets greet the nose followed by big yet fresh black fruit, this turns immensely floral and really focused with a light oaken overlay. A slightly softer style of Barbera that's filled with rich red berry and black cherry fruit yet this remains very Barbera weight with no excess weight and only modest soft tannins. There's a little herb here that adds a lovely top note and adds complexity to the long, zesty finish. This is a lovely modern Barbera that delivers intensity without weight and isn’t sweetened up with excessive new oak. 90pts
