Like being enveloped in a soft pillow of flowers and talc, this Riesling wields its peach, vanilla and mineral flavors on a delicate framework. It's smoothness hides the underlying acidity, but it's there. Terrific slate finish. Drink now through 2010.

This Riesling from the Saar Valley in Germany is well worth the price. The minerality is strong from aroma through the complex finish. Apricot, lychee, and pear fruit hold their own next to the massive mineral presence. There is just the slightest hint of very ethereal and elegant botrytis. Imagine the smell and taste of drying, freshly-cut hay coated with honey, and let yourself return to the summers of your past while enjoying this standout Riesling from the outstanding 2005 vintage.

Seductive, bursting with succulent line and apricot aromas and flavors accented by white pepper. In the mouth, it's rich and racy until the refreshing acidity ushers in a long, multidimensional finish. Great stuff. Drink now through 2010.

Exuding a fennel, green tea and almond flavor profile, this bracing '99 Mosel exhibits plenty of slate, with a lingering finish. Well done. Drink now through 2006.

Here's a surprisingly loveable Scharzhofberger riesling, which smells cold and mineral yet sends out clear, soft peach and Rainier cherry flavor. Those flavors resonate so long it's easy to miss the minerality, which is substantial as the hill itself. Delicious and long-lived.

Ethereal aromas of lime and spring wildflowers introduce this rich, deftly balanced Spätlese, then apple and lime flavors glide across the palate. Absolutely delicious now, but should age well too.
