For years, Annegret and Gerhard Gartner have created a nearly perfect harmony between their personal and professional lives – something only a few married couples succeed in doing. Not only are they inseparable from one another, but also from their work. It comes as no surprise – nearly everything revolves around food and wine. The wines are uncompromisingly and consistently subject to the highest quality standards. This commitment has earned the estate recognition and respect, and has been confirmed by many prizes and awards by leadinging publications, such as the German gourmet magazine Feinschmecker, the critical wine guide Gault Millau, and the American wine magazine Wine Spectator (including vintner of the year) – to name but a few. Weingut Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is more than 650 years old and thus, one of the most historical estates in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region. In 1978, the Günther Reh family acquired the estate from the Reichsgrafen (imperial counts) of Kesselstatt. Today, Annegret Reh-Gartner and her husband Gerhard Gartner carry on this Riesling tradition. In 1999, headquarters moved from Palais Keselstatt in Trier to Schloss Marienlay in the Ruwer Valley. Here, optimal conditions were created for producing Riesling wines that are on a par with the finest wines of the world. No other wine estate in Germany has such an unusually broad spectrum of top vineyards in all three river valleys of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region. They are sites that number among the best white wine vineyards of the world. The estate owns 36 hectares (89 acres) of vines, all of which are on steep slopes. This Riesling from the Saar Valley in Germany is well worth the price. The minerality is strong from aroma through the complex finish. Apricot, lychee, and pear fruit hold their own next to the massive mineral presence. There is just the slightest hint of very ethereal and elegant botrytis. Imagine the smell and taste of drying, freshly-cut hay coated with honey, and let yourself return to the summers of your past while enjoying this standout Riesling from the outstanding 2005 vintage.

Tangy, with lime, nectarine, vanilla custard and mineral notes in a rainbow of flavors. Well-structured, though the acidity is submerged now, with a lingering, vanilla-tinged finish. Drink now through 2018.

Sharp and crisp, the nose presents traces of minerality paired with citrus fruits such as lime, pear and peach. The body is smooth, and offsets the heavy acidity with a touch of honey and vanilla. Perfect pairing for grilled seafood, or a great wine to enjoy on a summer evening.

The 2005 Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling Spatlese predictably - given the site and the personality of Kesselstatt's other wines - opens with notes of very ripe tropical and caramelized orchard fruits, along with high-toned esters and a hint of whit... A lush, voluminous Riesling, with ripe apricot, lime and mineral lurking in the background. The structure is apparent from midpalate through finish, suggesting this needs more time to integrate. Best from 2006 through 2016.

Like being enveloped in a soft pillow of flowers and talc, this Riesling wields its peach, vanilla and mineral flavors on a delicate framework. It's smoothness hides the underlying acidity, but it's there. Terrific slate finish. Drink now through 2010.

Like an orange Creamsicle, with a dash of vanilla, this is rich, supple and tangy at once. Great harmony and texture is punctuated by the bright acidity as this strides to a lingering finish. Drink now through 2025.
