enjoyable blend, excellent with seafood
A Rhone-style cali wine. Full of ripe black currants & raspberries. Hints of smokiness....oaked to perfection.
Pencil lead nose, with black berries. Medium body, red fruit, medium tannin and acid. Simple. Cracked pepper. Fresh, dusty.
Nose: soft (American?) oak, some subtle French (?) oak; some vanilla (appearing with air); tannic; licorice; tea; good, but a characteristic New World wine: lacking dimension, depth, sophistication, complexity. Drinkable but in no way memorable.
I rarely rate wines, but this is truly one of my favorite "Tuesday night" wines. This group of wines is my classification for wines I enjoy virtually any day of the week, and not just on special occasions. I have not had a bad year, but the '01 was fantastic, and the '02 delightful.
