Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Backus Vineyard 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

94-96+ points Robert Parker: ...deep ruby/purple color, a more subdued set of aromatics, loads of fruit, supple tannins, stunning concentration and a more explosive mouthfeel than the restrained aromatics suggest. Everything is here for a classic back-to-back success for Phelps. It is another 25+ year wine. (Dec 2010)

Tasting Notes:

The Backus Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon boasts aromas of licorice, violet, espresso beans, blueberry syrup and exotic spices. The texture and silkiness on the palate are seamlessly interwoven with concentrated layers of perfectly ripe tannin and fruit. Notes of minerality and sweet oak linger on the long finish.
