This was smoky and rocky with intense black spice and black fruit tones. Still decidedly youthful and powerful with layers of rich, sweet fruits and slow to emerge sweet, creamy cappuccino oak notes. In the mouth this remains youthful, big, rich and well balanced. The fruits are intense and meaty with a long menthol top note that leads to the finish which is probably the weakest point of the wine as it is a touch short. It's touch to follow up all that rich fruit. Still this is about as good a modern California Cab as one could hope for and it has some serious potential for improvement. 2009-2020 92pts

100% Napa Valley Cabernet, with more than 50% of the blend coming from our Las Rocas vineyard in the Stag's Leap District and Banca Dorada vineyard on Manley Lane in the Rutherford Bench. Other grape sources include vineyards near St. Helena, Oakville and Rutherford, as well as from Diamond Mountain outside of Calistoga. Average 23.8 degrees Brix, fermented in stainless steel tanks, then aged 22 months in 60-gallon French oak (75%) and American oak barrels (25%), before being blended, fined with fresh egg whites,
