Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Innisfree 2005

I just put my glasses on and realized the bottle of Innisfree which we just finished off was a 2004 and not 2005...but, regardless, it was a wonderful, smooth cabernet. The first 3/4 of the bottle somewhat better than the last 1/4 but I would definately recommend it and hope that we can find someplace to buy it here on the East Coast. We picked these bottles up while in Napa at the Phelps Vineyard. In two letters.....Ymmmmmmmm!!

Has a blueberry/chocolate scent.
Dry berry flavor with a long, smoky finish.

This is an concentrated wine made to appeal to the begining red wine drinker or someone who is used to a very fruity wine, particularly a New World wine with primary fruit as the focus. There is a bit of sweetness designed to boost the fruit. It is not at all my style of wine. It is probably popular with those that have gotten into wine within the last decade or so and those who have not the experience of a great mature Bordeaux. Too bright, too straight forward and too much of a fruit bomb.

I agree with the other reviews that say this is a great buy in the $20 range.

This wine has a great structure and nice long finish. Smooth going down, great flavor and the tannins don't overpower.
