Joseph Drouhin Puligny-Montrachet Folatières 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

"_Outstanding!_ A soupçon of wood surrounds the ripe acacia blossom, lemon rind and slightly exotic white fruit aromas. Once again there is fine richness to the concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess impeccable balance and excellent length on the mouth coating, lemony and moderately dry finish. This generous effort should both drink reasonably well young yet reward 5 to 8 years of cellaring too." - Allen Meadows, Burghound *(91 Points)*

In 1880, Joseph Drouhin, who was from the Chablis region originally, chose the city of Beaune to found the business that bears his name.  Over the years and with each generation, the vineyard estate grew.  At the same time, the founder's passionate search for excellence and knowledge was handed down like a family heirloom; Maison Joseph Drouhin continues to ensure this valuable family heritage. Dedication to the diversity of Burgundy has always been the sole focus and vocation of Maison Joseph Drouhin, as vineyards - mostly premier and grand crus - were acquired in all major areas.   Out of firm conviction, Drouhin has adopted a biological and biodynamic approach to viticulture.  Listening to nature: from vine to glass, at every step in the elaboration of the wine, a profound respect and deference to nature prevails. From its very beginning, Maison Joseph Drouhin has aimed for an ideal of perfection and elegance.  The style of Joseph Drouhin combines balance, harmony and character, providing infinite pleasure.   Thanks to its open-minded world view, Joseph Drouhin introduces the best of Burgundy to all continents.  Its active presence in many countries is the surest proof of its desire to get acquainted and understand other cultures and styles of living. Very rich and viscous with great citrus fruit and even nut notes. Intense oak, but it it integrated and balanced. Just narrowly missed out on a 4.5

Very complex- changes greatly over time. Minerality is balanced with fruit and honey.

Very ripe aromas of apricot, clove and nut oil; more advanced than I would have predicted following my tasting from barrel a year ago. Plenty of density and acidity here but the two components have not yet integrated. Best today on the rich, sweet, t... Stephen Tanzers IWC. Pure aromas of pineapple, flowers and stone. Glyceral-rich and tactile, with very ripe flavors of pineapple and flowers, along with a whiff of banana. A distinctly ripe, fat style, with suggestions of surmaturite. Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Chardonnay wine from Burgundy in France. 2006 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Puligny Montrachet les Folatieres 750ml

92 Points - Wine Spectator "This has a firm spine of acidity, but also good richness, providing a backdrop for the lemon, hazelnut and vanilla flavors to stretch out across the palate...."- WS 9/07
