Tart, watery, crushed lilacs and bitter tight berries. Light, bashful and uneventful on the tongue; one keeps waiting but not much happens. Oddly: has the slightest suggestion of the synthetic ""blue raspberry"" flavor you see in some sour candies.

Anise, earthy, smoked wood, big flavors yet balanced and not heavy

Wine Tasting NotesPretty red color, with bright ruby tones. Very pleasant bouquet reminiscent of cherry and ripe raspberry, with a peppery note in the background. Good balance with pleasant roundness and freshness; supple and refined tannic structure. On the palate, flavors of wild blackberries and raspberries dominate, with some undertones of licorice. After a little more aeration, there is a round and harmonious sensation as the wine then evolves towards all kinds of delicious red berry flavors.

Wine Tasting NotesBrilliant gold yellow color; aromas of fruit trees in bloom, fresh almonds and honey. On the palate, the wine coats the mouth with a round, velvety sensation, held together by a nice mineral backbone. Pretty flavors of almond paste, grilled hazelnut and lotus flowers. The overall impression is of lightness, harmony and elegance.

Full and generous yet extremely elegant wine, with the distinctive peach and almond nuances characteristic of the commune married seamlessly to the rich Chardonnay fruit and harmonious notes of oak, both in the nose and on the palate.

Winemaker's Notes:

"...simply superb and displays outstanding potential. The deep and beautifully complex nose offers up scents of red and black cherries, plums, woodsmoke, venison, fresh herbs, lovely soil tones and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with lovely nascent complexity, a fine sense of reserve, lovely mid-palate concentration, ripe tannins and fine grip on the long, tangy finish...94" JG 11/10 "A big, rich, yet brooding ‘09 red, with a hint of animal to the plum, cherry, currant and spice flavors that butt up against the massive, though not overly obtrusive, tannins. Compact now...93" WS 05/12
