Joseph Drouhin Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

"_Don't Miss!_ A highly reserved, riper and more complex nose offers up white orchard fruit, floral notes and a panoply of spice nuances that are trimmed in subtle oak toast. The big-bodied, dense and succulent flavors are muscular but still relatively refined before culminating in a backward and linear finish. Not surprisingly at this early juncture the palate impression is quite compact and this is going to required most of a decade to realize its full potential." - Allen Meadows, Burghound *(94 Points)*

In 1880, Joseph Drouhin, who was from the Chablis region originally, chose the city of Beaune to found the business that bears his name.  Over the years and with each generation, the vineyard estate grew.  At the same time, the founder's passionate search for excellence and knowledge was handed down like a family heirloom; Maison Joseph Drouhin continues to ensure this valuable family heritage. Dedication to the diversity of Burgundy has always been the sole focus and vocation of Maison Joseph Drouhin, as vineyards - mostly premier and grand crus - were acquired in all major areas.   Out of firm conviction, Drouhin has adopted a biological and biodynamic approach to viticulture.  Listening to nature: from vine to glass, at every step in the elaboration of the wine, a profound respect and deference to nature prevails. From its very beginning, Maison Joseph Drouhin has aimed for an ideal of perfection and elegance.  The style of Joseph Drouhin combines balance, harmony and character, providing infinite pleasure.   Thanks to its open-minded world view, Joseph Drouhin introduces the best of Burgundy to all continents.  Its active presence in many countries is the surest proof of its desire to get acquainted and understand other cultures and styles of living. Lovely on the nose with a yeasty tone that along with the cream element on the nose recalls brie cheese. It's alos faintly wood smoky with a touch of ash lurking and gentle wood tones framing the lovely candied pineapple fruit. In the mouth this is wonderfully precise with great depth and purity. The backend is all mineral cut which leads to a long, vibrant finish. Superb stuff! 2010-2024 95pts.

This is even more primary than the Corton-Charlemagne as here there are vestiges of fermentation aromas that presently still dominate the nose. Otherwise, there is serious size and weight to the big-bodied yet seductively textured, even silky flavors... Burghound. Though glycerol-like in texture, this is more angular in its approach, with vivid acidity driving the lime, baked apple, almond and mineral flavors. Offers fine intensity and length. In contrast to the relative expressiveness of the majority of the prior wines, here the nose is decidedly restrained, offering up only grudging notes of pain grillé that frame pure aromas of white flower and fresh pear with subtle spice notes that co... As good and refined as several of the foregoing wines are, this is the clear class of the cellar with moderate wood notes framing a fresh, intense and airy nose that sports impressive aromatic breadth while merging into exceptionally rich and intense...
