Joseph Drouhin Cote de Beaune Cote de Beaune France Burgundy 2005
88 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): This is also aromatically complex and expressive if not quite as refined with rich and relatively full-bodied flavors that possess good punch and ample finishing persistence plus there is only the barest trace of backend rusticity... offers an excellent quality/price ratio. Recommended. 2010+. (Apr 2007)

Definitely distinctive and not entirely a surprise when one considers the chalky soil and SOUTH/SOUTH EAST EXPOSURE, and that we are talking BEAUNE. Pretty, feminine, raspberry and red-fruit flavours. It is the smoothness of the tannins which strike me most. Really nice on the finish. True "PINOR NOIRESQUE" harmony and soft delicacy which I so love.......... that delicately structured and framed understated sophistication...like the way I dress. ENJOY...CHEERS...DROUHIN IS GOOD STUFF.
Wonderful, sparkling red color emanating from the glass. Somewhat atypical tomato juice consistency of the wine upon entry into the mouth - with all the usual strawberry and sweet cherry aroma operating on the olfactory bulbs. This wine is surprisingly dense - more like a Pommard from an average vintage. Definitely a wine aiming above its station. Drinking well now, but will last 3-5 years with prudent cellaring.
Nice light, dry, well-balanced. Clean finish. Not alot of character, but well structured. Good value.
I just love this wine. It's so easy to drink. I had bought a case and just finished the last bottle (I had forgotten it). I need to get more.
