Joseph Drouhin Bourgogne Pinot Noir Laforet 2011
This is a delicious red Burgundy wine made from the noble Pinot Noir variety, and one of the top producers in Burgundy, Joseph Drouhin. The 2011 Joseph Drouhin Laforet Bourgogne Pinot Noir has juicy red cherry fruit with earthy notes that have hints of spice. "A very pinot nose cut with soft earth notes leads to energetic and detailed flavors that possess plenty of character..." -Allen Meadows' Burghound *Screw Cap*
DEDICATION TO THE DIVERSITY OF BURGUNDY With close to 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs in all their authenticity and subtle variations. A FAMILY HERITAGE For the last 130 years, Maison Joseph Drouhin has been in the hands of the Drouhin family. Today, the fourth generation is at the helm, animated by the same passion that inspired the founder of the company.
Somewhat flat and bland with some red cherry and decent acidity. This could use more fruit and/or body.
First France Pinot Noir. Not bad at all. Very Pale and translucent slightly brown Ruby Color. Very dry with more of a spice, mineral, musty, and earth nose and taste than fruit. Fruit when it came is more of a sour plum/cherry. Compared this to a bit of the Sierra del Mar California Pinot. the Reverse Wine Snob has a review of this @ http://www.reversewinesnob.com/2013/08/joseph-drouhin-laforet-bourgogne.html
External Reviews for Joseph Drouhin Bourgogne Pinot Noir Laforet
A wine full of charm: bright ruby color and a nose rich with aromas of red fruit (raspberry, red currants, wild strawberry). On the palate, the wine is pleasant, fruity and refreshing, with light tannins and great elegance. It is not a wine we recommend to cellar for many years. Drink it when young, up to two or three years. We suggest serving Laforet at 59° F-61° F. Easy to match with food, it will be best with assorted deli meats, poultry, white meat, "au gratin" dishes, roasted meat and soft cheese. - Winery
The hue has usually a brillant ruby-garnet colour. The nose offers effusive aromas of crushed berries (raspberry, redcurrant and blackcurrant come to mind). On the palate, the wine is full of charm and very pleasant to drink : fresh and fruity berry flavours with light and elegant tannins.
