Great Value 5 glasses
Great perfume, with wonderful fruit and stoniness underneath. Great acidity, too. Honey, apples, melon. Wonderful food wine.
Mourvedre, Grenache. Mineral and raspberry aromas to this dark wine. Frais de bois and raspberry flavors. Very nice, rich mouthfeel and a concentration of flavors in the midpalate. Chalky, stony finish.
Very attractive dark crimson color. Aromas of dark red fruit, coffee, spice, and earth. Coffee and tobacco were present on the palate, but there was also the taste of red cherry, blackberry, red pepper, and vanilla. The wine is full and smooth in the mouth. The finish is long and satisfying.
For the price I paid (5Euro) this was a decent purchase. Obviously not as complex as other Priorats, but with nine months in barrel this wine has some quality. Decent structure, nice earthiness and some dried fruit components.
Amazing nose on this wine. Big and floral with hints of ripe tropical fruit. Fairly round and rich on the palate. Very interesting wine.
As seen in the Baltimore Sun: "Serve with: Grilled steak, lamb This lush, ripe Spanish red from the venerable Torres firm — now spreading its wings in Rioja after decades in Penedes — shows intense flavors and admirable depth. It offers well-defined flavors of black cherry, herbs, spices, smoked meat and vanilla. It's quite enjoyable now, but could age well for several years."

Rating: 89/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the September 2010 issue. Mixing blackberry fruit tones with light sniffs of old leather and the tightness of youth, this wine still gets it spot on in its aromas and delivers well in the mouth. It is supple to start in palatefeel, then progress to a firm, tannin-supported spine that demands a fair bit of patience in order for the wine to come out of its rough stance. With depth to spare and focus that is true-to-type, this Zin can be put away with confidence.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.
A 100% Grenache cuvee from the sandy soils of a 106-year-old, biodynamically farmed La Crau vineyard, and aged in both foudre and tank, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Speciale is amazing. Abundant notes of melted licorice, kirsch liqueur, and flowers is followed by a full-bodied, seamlessly constructed wine with sensational purity, texture, depth, and length. The bad news is there are only 2,000 bottles. This 2007 should drink well for two decades or more.
This Australian Shiraz has all the charms of an “Aussie Beauty!” With hints of black currants, blueberries and plum, its flavor is wonderful. Rich earthy tones, not typical of the Barossa Valley, make it even more of a gem. Medium finish that’s smooth on the palate –– a real charmer. Enjoy!
Knebel Winninger Uhlen Riesling Spätlese trocken 2007: Dieser junge Uhlenwein zeigt eine pikante, oftmals fast salzige Mineralität, die durch einen reifen, kraftvollen Körper gemildert wird. Full bodied and concentrated, with a long, chewy finish, this wine gets points for being complex as well. It’s plummy yet savory, with touches of braised beef, coffee and black olive. Drink 2013–2023.
Glass-staining ruby. Oak-spiced dark berry aromas are complicated by notes of cracked pepper and licorice. Fleshy and broad in the mouth, offering sweet boysenberry and singed plum flavors and building tannins. Finishes with solid grip and lingering dark fruits. I like this wine’s structure and focus.
