The color is a deep ruby and the bouquet is of red berries, chocolate and nuances of green tea. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, fruity, with soft tannins, and is well balanced with a long, smooth finish. Good and affordable wine.

These wines continue to be the best dry red table wines made in Portugal. The 1990 Periquita exhibits good, clean, berry-like fruit in the nose, a ripe, rich, crisp, medium-bodied fruitiness, fine body, and a tart finish. This wine always reminds me of a medium-weight Zinfandel blended with a moderately intense Pinot Noir. Drink the 1990 over the next 2-5 years.

Notes of tobacco, cherry and cola on the nose... tastes of cola and cherry lightly touched with cassis. A clean and compact red for simple red meat dishes.
