Winemaker's Notes:

Cool, handpicked grapes were barrel fermented in 100% French Oak; 30% new barrels to develop the balanced integration of the flavors from the toasty oak with vibrant flavors from the fruit. Partial malolactic fermentation preserved the natural acidity while imparting a creamy character to the wine and extended sur lie contact added further complexity and richness. The wine remained in French oak barrels for six months before being bottled and aged for one year before release.

Tasting Notes:

The 1998 Chardonnay is a wine that possesses a complex mineral and floral bouquet revealing notes of green apple, pear, citrus, and butter. On the palate, the wine is rich and vibrant with flavors that include ripe apple, melon, fig and honey balanced with toasty oak and creamy lees. It has a long, expansive finish that ends with just the right amount of acidity to make this wine the perfect complement to many types of cuisine.
