Jordan Vineyard & Winery Chardonnay Russian River Valley 1992

Winemaker's Notes:

The 1992 Chardonnay marks a departure for Jordan Vineyard & Winery! After twelve years of producing "Estate Bottled" Chardonnay, we are now blending 6% of our Russian River vineyard grapes with out traditional Alexander Valley grapes. The cooler climate in Jordan's Russian River vineyard provides an exciting pear and green apple character and additional acidity to out Chardonnay. The resulting Alexander Valley and Russian River marriage of grapes is a profoundly provocative, rich, fruity wine with harmonious balance. In order to capitalize on the ample fruit characteristics which Nature provided us in 1992, our winemaker opted for partial malolactic fermentation in order to capitalize on the ample fruit characteristics in 1992's harvest. Following the partial malolactic fermentation, the 1992 Chardonnay aged for five months on the lees in French oak barrels with five additional months in French oak upright tanks. The resulting tapestry of fruit aromas with buttery, soft, and toasty elements provides petticoats of layered flavors which draw additional interest with each tasting.

Tucked into the hills of Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley, Jordan Vineyard & Winery has been dedicated to world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and hospitality since its founding in 1972 by Tom and Sally Jordan. Under the guidance of Tom’s son, John, Jordan continues its pursuit of excellence in every aspect of the business, striving to place in balance the complexities of terroir, the artistry of the cellar and the joys of the table. The estate boasts nearly 1,200 acres of rolling hills, vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot), oak trees, lakes, streams, olive trees, and organic gardens, as well as winery, hospitality and operations facilities. Since the inaugural 1976 vintage, Jordan wines have been renowned for their consistency. We believe strongly in the timeless qualities of balance, elegance and food affinity, which are found in our Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Russian River Valley Chardonnay.
