Jordan Vineyard & Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County 1991

Winemaker's Notes:

Using grapes from seventeen year-old vines grown exclusively in Jordan's Alexander Valley Vineyards, the 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 81.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16.0% Merlot, and 2.8% Cabernet Franc. This exquisite wine, in which youthful tannins are balanced gently with the fruit, has aged for one year in French and American oak barrels. The wine had two additional y;ears of bottle-aging in the Jordan cellars before being released.

Tucked into the hills of Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley, Jordan Vineyard & Winery has been dedicated to world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and hospitality since its founding in 1972 by Tom and Sally Jordan. Under the guidance of Tom’s son, John, Jordan continues its pursuit of excellence in every aspect of the business, striving to place in balance the complexities of terroir, the artistry of the cellar and the joys of the table. The estate boasts nearly 1,200 acres of rolling hills, vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot), oak trees, lakes, streams, olive trees, and organic gardens, as well as winery, hospitality and operations facilities. Since the inaugural 1976 vintage, Jordan wines have been renowned for their consistency. We believe strongly in the timeless qualities of balance, elegance and food affinity, which are found in our Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Russian River Valley Chardonnay. Architecture, landscaping, gardens, hospitality, and cuisine contribute to a special sense of place. The wines and the place give all of us at Jordan the rewarding feeling that our work is bringing pleasure to the many people who drink our wine and visit the estate. Read less

In my humble opinion, this is one of the most underrated California wines. Great flavor at a very reasonable price. Everyone whom I've given a sample has fallen in love with it/ I'd recommend it to anybody.

A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 1991 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

Tasting Notes:

Vivid and brilliant garnet in color, this distinctive wine gives the immediate visual impression of being full-bodied and long-lasting. The bouquet of forward fruit and the aromas of cassis and ripe black cherry evolve into a more complex and balanced impression of spice, black currant and cedar - all of which is supported by a strong structure of predominantly French oak. The expansive, rich, velvety and intricate fruit flavors meld on the palate with those of nutmeg, clove, and soft, woodsy essences.
