Tucked into the hills of Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley, Jordan Vineyard & Winery has been dedicated to world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and hospitality since its founding in 1972 by Tom and Sally Jordan. Under the guidance of Tom’s son, John, Jordan continues its pursuit of excellence in every aspect of the business, striving to place in balance the complexities of terroir, the artistry of the cellar and the joys of the table. The estate boasts nearly 1,200 acres of rolling hills, vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot), oak trees, lakes, streams, olive trees, and organic gardens, as well as winery, hospitality and operations facilities. Since the inaugural 1976 vintage, Jordan wines have been renowned for their consistency. We believe strongly in the timeless qualities of balance, elegance and food affinity, which are found in our Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Russian River Valley Chardonnay. Architecture, landscaping, gardens, hospitality, and cuisine contribute to a special sense of place. The wines and the place give all of us at Jordan the rewarding feeling that our work is bringing pleasure to the many people who drink our wine and visit the estate. Read less

Medium intensity aromas of buttery vanilla, green apple, fresh almonds, vanilla pudding and just a hint of apricot and golden berries. Smooth yet refreshing, the palate offers fresh pineapple, lemon zest, green apples and a creamy texture with well integrated toasty oak. The long finish is similarly complex delivering a few extra seconds of enjoyment. Lovely.

Very low key on the nose with complex aromas of buttery nuts, herbs, pineapple tops, older wood, and creamy apple fruit topped with nice toast and creme brulee aromas. Decidedly acid-driven on entry, this delivers wonderfully clear flavors of citrus fruit and tart apples over a base of older wood accented with a hint of toast and vanilla in the mouth. Just wonderfully balanced with intense flavors but a light, elegant mouthfeel capped off by a long, complex and subtle finish. This is lovely; complex yet restrained with amazing acidity for a California Chardonnay. 92pts Acidity: Medium High Perceived Sweetness: Low Oak: Medium Low Spicy Flavors: Low Savory Flavors: Medium Low Fruity Flavors: Medium High Intensity of Flavor: Medium High Weight in Mouth: Medium Low

Rather low on the nose, with lemon peel and soil base notes supporting a gentle top note of vanilla cream and apricot. This has lovely bright acids and soft creaminess working against each other to keep things tight in the mouth. The oak is noticeable but clean, adding lightly toasty spice notes to the core of apple fruit. The finish shows a bit more oak early on, but the citrus character of the wine powers through on the long finale with a subtle hint of refreshing minerality. 91pts

Buttery vanilla notes and long sexy finish. On the nose I didn't find anything special but the combined finish of the oak and the smokiness is awesome. Jordan smashing out of the park again.

Crisp, minerally Chardonnay. Great style, with aromas of honey and apple. Palate is refreshing and lean, with great balance and acidity, fresh green apple fruit, peaches, and a crisp finish.

Mild butterscotch green apple nose, with cilantro and something milky. The mouth is nicely acidic, and very smooth.

Overall a relaxed mellow mineral body with great balance of spice and sweetness. An exercise in balance and restraint. Mentioned in a virtual tasting with the winemaker: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/6532893

Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: Aromas of fresh Fuji apple and Asian pear entice the nose, laced with intriguing hints of lemon custard, flint-like minerality and a subliminal caress of integrated vanilla and baking spice from thoughtful time in French oak. The mid-palate is creamy and complete with a firm acidity that carries through the persistent finish. Jordan’s 2012 Chardonnay sets a new benchmark for future vintages. Chef’s Pairing Suggestions: The 2012 Jordan Chardonnay is the ultimate pairing wine at the dinner table, acting as a complement, contrast or bridge to vast flavors. Expressions of clean and precise fruit, a vivid backbone of acidity and subtle oak nuances are its key components to versatility. From halibut ceviche, abalone tiradito and grilled sand dabs to soft-shell crab, garden tempura and grilled chicken, the options are limitless. - Winery Fermentation: Clusters destemmed and gently pressed at night to extract freshness and acidity while avoiding astringent phenolic character from the skins. Inoculated and fermented 12 days in roughly twothirds French oak barrels and one-third stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation limited to 29%. Sur Lie: Ten weeks of sur-lie aging with some of bâtonnage to heighten the creamy texture of the mid-palate. Cooperages: French oak barrels from eight coopers were chosen based on tightness of grain, low tannin potential and light toast levels, allowing the fruit profile to shine. Ageing: 100% French oak for 6.5 months; 42% new oak Selection: Double-sorting of grapes (in vineyard and at winery); press cuts done by taste to preserve purity of free-run juice flavors. Alcohol: 13.7% T.A.: 0.75g/100mL pH: 3.34 R.S.: 0.05%
