Jones of Washington Viognier Wahluke Slope 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

The warm, sunny, long growing days, and cool star-filled nights help to retain acidity in our white wines from our Vineyards on the Wahluke slope. Using selected yeast, 40% of the juice is fermented gently in Hungarian Oak Pungeons and the difference in Stainless tanks. This delicate technique brings aromas of apricots and cantaloupe followed by rich flavors of pears and Granny Smith apples wrapped with orange citrus on the palate, for true balance and complexity in your glass.

Over fifty years of farming experience in the Columbia basin has led to the breaking of new ground and the diversification of crops for the Jones Family. Since 1949 when the Columbia Basin Project began, the Jones Family started growing and packing potatoes in Winchester, Washington. From this, the venture has grown into the production of many different farm crops. Reaping and suffering has brought much knowledge of the land in this extreme business. In 1997, the first Jones Vineyards were planted on the Wahluke slope. In 2001, an interest in wine along with some un-contracted grapes propelled Jack into getting a winery license and selling the grapes as wine himself. This led to the beginning of Jack Jones Winery and the Jones of Washington brands. Jack Jones started planting wine grapes on the Wahluke Slope in 1997 and is the owner while Greg Jones (his son) oversees the operation. Read less

Another wonderful wine from Jones of Washington. Great with spicy food or just to have on a warm night.
