Jonathan Edwards Zinfandel California 2006

Member Review by MTB:

An equally strong wine to the Napa Valley Zin, it was interesting to pair the two Zinfandels back-to-back. There are definite notes of clove on the nose, and while the Sierra Hills was not as fruity as the Napa Valley Zin, it was still smooth, rich and complex. This would be a great wine for pairing with grilled steak and peppers.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Great Spicy and Peppery taste. Perfect complement to a piece of smoked or barbecued meat. I was Very impressed with this bottle. On a side note, the bottle had a 15.6% alcohol volume amount, which makes me curious how they accomplished that.

Just a note - it is a very common trait to find in Zinfandel that it contains a higher than "normal" alcohol content. A grape that is often harvested at a high sugar content, once fermented to a dry style, yields a higher alcohol percentage. Anymore it is almost a standard for Zin.
