Jonata Winery Cabernet Franc Santa Ynez Valley El Alma de Jonata 2007
97 points Robert Parker: ...89% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot cropped at 1.44 to 2.2 tons of fruit per acre. Ethereal floral notes intermixed with notions of black raspberries, blueberries, and graphite are present in the aromas and flavors. Although it exhibits noteworthy concentration as well as endearing texture, richness, and intensity, it is not heavy, but represents a quintessential expression of how Cabernet Franc can provide penetrating aromas and flavors without the sense of force and weightiness of Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot... It will drink well for 10-15 years. (Aug 2009)
JONATA is 600 acres of gorgeous, golden mills; eighty of which were meticulously selected based on their unique microclimates and soil profiles, then divided into more than fifty blocks and sub-blocks - each matched with different rootstock. Clones and planting densities - to provide winemaker Matt Dees with the broadest palette from which to blend the distinctive wines of JONATA.
