Wow, red Zin is really making a comeback and with this offering from John Tyler, I know why. The nose emits a delicious creamy spice note - something like eggnog - and follows out with a hint of cherry syrup. It's bright and fruity on the palate, perfect for pairing with food! I love the hint of licorice that I get up front, and mellow light body that it offers as it finishes. Nice!
This is otherworldy Zin! The nose is all holiday smells - eggnog, nutmet, and cranberry laurels. One sip and I feel like I'm drinking liquid pie! Cranberries and cooking spices envelop my palette - where's the turkey?! The finish is almost candy-esque, but not in a Kendall Jackson way - kiwis and strawberries and a touch of raspberries. A great Zinfandel and proof that Zin-telligent Life is out there.
