John Duval Wines Shiraz Barossa Valley Entity 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

So if you looking for Grange in Entity you wont find it, for a start it is 45% new tight grained French oak the balance is 2, 3 and 4 year old French and American. The flavours are of concentrated dark fruits and the tannins are soft. Give me 12 bottles of this for the same price as a bottle of Grange any day.

He currently resides in the Barossa Valley , one of Australia 's most famous wine regions, particularly known for its old vine Shiraz . Four generations of the Duval clan have been vignerons in South Australia . Viticulture The inspiration of the Barossa Valley’s old vine, low yielding Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre created Plexus, combining elements into a beautifully structured blend. Traditional winemaking practices and fifteen months in French oak barriques will ensure the age worthiness of this first ever release, ensuring a long cellar life. Entity Shiraz is an intricately structured wine comprised of rich and vibrant Shiraz fruit. A true reflection of Barossa's soil and climate, Entity displays deep color and distinctive structure. Intense and elegant, Entity expresses aromas of ripe blackberry, blueberry, and a hint of spice. Read less

Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Dark roasty nose with hints of kirsch. Intense flavors of kirsch, creme de cassis, chocolate, spices, sweet liquer. It's thick and dense. It's got hot alcohol and big tannins. I find it a bit heavy handed. 9/24/11
