John Duval Plexus Sgm 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Many who make this blend have Grenache as the dominant grape variety, but the plushness of Barossa Shiraz makes 50% of this blend, the balance is old vine Grenache and Mourvedre. Red fruits flavours and very subtle oak insures that trademark seamlessness.

Starts off with mulberry, cola, vanilla and clove, and persists that way across the creamy-textured palate. A textbook Aussie blend, marrying immediate approachability with 5-8 years of ageability. Another fine effort from former Penfolds winemaker J... Wine Enthusiast. A Proprietary Blend wine from South Australia in Australia. 2007 Duval Wines, John Plexus 750ml

Tasting Notes:

The 2007 vintage of Plexus is an intricately structured blend comprised of rich and vibrant fruit from Barossa Valley’s old, low yielding vines. A true refection of Barossa’s soil and climate, Plexus expresses a combination of lifted aromatic red fruits with a touch of savory spice and subtle oak. On the palate, red and black fruit combine with layers of spice. Intense and elegant, Plexus demonstrates ripe, fine tannins, an impressive concentration, and a seamless balance. Traditional winemaking practices and fifteen months in French oak barriques will ensure the age worthiness of this fourth release. Enjoy the 2007 vintage now or cellar it for 8-10 years to garner additional complexity.
