Solid Napa cab for a non-Napa price. Okay, $55 is still high but I would put this up against any of the $75 to $100 Napa Cabs. Great structure with spice and balance. Coco, dark fruit and spice in the taste. Decanted an hour. Think this will age well.

Blueberry and licorice greet the nose with an oddly pleasing duet. The palate is creamy, with blueberry compote, blackberry and cocoa morphing into a long, tasty finish. Tight in a good way – focused and wound, rolling out fruit notes through the heat and zing of a long peppery finish whose sourness begs for fruit to play with.

The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon is grown on three little vineyards I planted and farm in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. The climate and soils create a beautifully balanced and rich wine with flavors of blackberry and blueberry. There is a hint of sweet oak with a big rounded mid palate and smooth finish due to the integrated tannins. Enjoyable upon release and will continue to improve for years to come. 92 Points, Wine Spectator: Bold, rich and extracted, with dense, concentrated cherry, currant, fresh earth, mineral and sage. Full-blown and well-structured, ending with chewy tannins. Best from 2010 through 2016. 2,062 cases made. -JL
