Joh.Jos. Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett 2008
Comparing this with the Graacher Kabinett decisively displays the difference of terroir. Vanilla and baked apple flavors are here folded into a polished, creamy palate. The finish is delicate but extended, subtle apple pit bitterness and slate minerality adding interest along the way.Add winemaker's notes

Candied apple, toasted almond and vanilla from beginning to end. Nice nip of slate and apple pit in the finish. Clear, pure and lovely in its simplicity.
Beautiful. Spicy and exotic, evoking vanilla, banana and tropical fruit aromas and flavors married to a vibrant structure and harmonious texture. It's all presented in an elegant package.
This vintage is highly praised for elegant wines with a very ripe, aromatic fruitiness and an extremely harmonious acidity. This Kabinett shows pure, intense, deep fruit that is slightly mineral, all typical of Prüm's wines. With great length and just a hint of sweetness, it is a wonderful representation of what German wines are.
An initial burnt-match smell should dissipate with either time in the bottle or aeration in the glass. Underneath is a blast of juicy peach and lime-tinged and a delicate, crystalline framework. Long, mineral finish. Best from 2001 through 2007.
Beautifully displayed elements of slate, peach and citrus blossom mark this German white, all integrated and suspended on a feathery, open texture. No shortage of concentration though, with a lingering finish. Drink now through 2005.
Highly aromatic and flowery on the nose, with nice tart citrus and white fruit character.
