Joh. Jos. Prüm Riesling Auslese Wehlener Sonnenuhr 2003
J.J. Prum wines are among the most exciting and delicious Riesling wines of the Middle Mosel. Prum wines have a reputation for being long-lived because if their slow development. Dr. Prum suggests even his Kabinett can be cellared for up to 5 years. Prum wines possess full-flavored pure fruit and piquant spiciness that express the true characteristics of Mosel wines.
Gorgeous bouquet of green apple, vanilla, and showing floral notes. Palate is smooth as silk! Flavors of pear and honey dominate, leading into a long velvety finish. Excellent wine! 93pts. Tasted 04/15/13
100% Riesling grown on solid blue slate from the steeply sloped Wehlener Sonnenuhr (sundial) vineyard. Star bright straw yellow color with very faint legs. Pronounced aromatic intensity of ripe peach, apricot, quince, pineapple and mango, with hints of orange blossom. Plenty of minerality present especially wet stone and the ever present petrol along with honey, almonds and allspice. High mouthwatering acidity, long medium sweet finish, medium + flavor intensity, medium bodied, well balanced, complex, and very good quality. I really enjoyed this wine and would love to have some spicy Asian food like Thai or Schezuan cooking to balance out the sweetness of this wine. Definitely a winner for me. 4/5

Pure, precise and fresh-tasting, with an intense clarity to the apple, pear and tangerine flavors that feature notes of slate and vanilla. The crystalline finish is long, pure and precise, with hints of smoke and anise. Best from 2014 through 2040.
Stunning. Very aromatic and expressive, offering rose, apricot, lime and mineral notes allied to a clear, gossamer frame. Itrsquo;s well-balanced, though soft in structure and forward today. It should pick up more intensity on the finish with age. Best from 2008 through 2028.
Pungent aromas of slate and flowers give way to peach and lime in this unevolved Riesling. The texture is supersilky, with great harmony among all the elements. Terrific length. Needs time. Best from 2014 through 2040.
This has a matchstick aroma from reduction, while the palate expresses peach, lime and mineral flavors. It has fine density and a keen-edged structure that keeps it detailed and crunchy. Long, mouthwatering finish. Best from 2009 through 2030.
Pale golden yellow. Classy bouquet of ripe apple, vanilla and sweet herbs. Rich on the palate, with a salty, resinous character and undeniably sweet apricot fruit. Unctuous yet vibrantly spicy, with a long, complex finish. This still needs time but will be a great auslese.
This is an archetypal Prüm Auslese, from its aristocratic poise and silky finesse to its vibrant energy and crystalline complexity. Its sleek fuselage of fruit feels succulent without needing to be overly rich, and its subtle, mineral-drenched flavors unfold in kaleidoscopic detail on the long and fragrant finish. At the same time, its youthfulness is almost painfully evident, a reminder that drinking this wine in optimum maturity is a pleasure that won't be experienced for at least another two or three decades.
Aromatic, offering smoke, slate, peach and floral aromas. It picks up a lime accent on the palate. Lighter than air, with a silky texture and long, tangy aftertaste. There's a nice combination of intensity and delicacy. Drink now through 2030.
