J.J. Prüm is a member of the Großer Ring Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter. The estate has 14 acres of holdings in the Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Bernkasteler Lay, Bernkasteler Badstube and Zeltinger Sonnenuhr vineyards. Only Riesling is grown and harvested at these sites. The most important of these sites are Wehlener Sonnenuhr and Graacher Himmelreich, in terms of both quantity and quality for the winery. Seventy percent of the vines are ungrafted. Depending on the vintage, the average annual production is 10,000 to 13,000 cases of wine. Stuart Pigott says of J.J. Prum that "since the early 1920's its wines have been among Germany’s best Rieslings with the Mosel’s vivacious aroma and racy elegance in its highest form". Wine writer Stephen Brook says that "The wines, whether a modest Kabinett or an opulent Beerenauslese, are the epitome of filigree elegance: light in body but intense in flavour, exquisitely balanced and precisely tuned, and capable of the most extra-ordinary longevity".  Read less

Elegant aromas of Bing cherry, apple blossom and roasted pine nuts. Sweet, delicate and nonetheless creamy on the palate, with sweet herbs and a touch of vanilla. Lemon curd and slate animate this serious spandauml;tleseandrsquo;s compelling finish.

Some of Pranduuml;mandrsquo;s releases in this decade have been more fruit-forward and less overtly yeasty than in the past, but this wine feels like a Pranduuml;m Spandauml;tlese of old: tightly restrained and stubbornly closed behind a wall of youthful fermentation aromas, it takes its time to reveal subtle detail and silky depth of fruit. Itandrsquo;s infused by the haunting blue-slate character for which the vineyard is renowned, and white it undoubtedly packs more richness and ripeness than a Pranduuml;m wine of 20 years ago, it maintains a similar feeling of delicacy, purity and grace.

Wine Tasting NotesBrilliant wine, as always from this address, and an example of classic Mosel Riesling. Forward in style. Intensely aromatic and bursting with herb, peach, lime and slate notes riding a firm, focused structure and creamy texture. Beautifully put together and long on the finish. Best from 2008 through 2025.

The Prum 2007 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spandauml;tlese is intriguingly- as well as gorgeously-scented with peony, narcissus, heliotrope, mint, and fresh apple. Creamy and buoyant on the palate, it caresses and seduces with suggestions of lemon chiffon and vanilla flan, but then leaves a surprisingly adamant, stony, subtly zesty finish as if to put the taster on notice that there is a lot more here than meets the palate at such a youthful juncture.

A decadent style, with tropical fruit flavors of mango and guava that drip with plenty of butter and spice notes. A rich anise and glazed apricot strain runs through the aroma to the finish. Distinctive and powerful. Drink now through 2025.

Impressive aromas of fruit and earth. Medium-bodied and medium sweet, with ripe fruit flavors and a moderate finish. A bit rustic. Drink now.
