Joel Gott Zinfandel California 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Joel became fascinated with Zinfandel in 1996 and we all find Zinfandel as irresistible today as he did then. Spicy, juicy, brash and elegant Zinfandel continues to be as enjoyable and interesting to make as it is to drink.

The 2006 Zinfandel is a welcome edition to a long line of can't-miss wines from famed California winemaker Joel Gott. Plush and richly textured, this wine boasts copious amounts of juicy red and black fruit flavors. Superb with steaks, pork roast and other savory meat dishes, yet with so much fruit I can easily imagine serving it with pizza and wings.

For this intense wine, Gott sources the fruit from some of the best growing areas for Zin mdash; Lodi, Amador and Napa Valley. Deep ruby color, aromas of vanilla, anise, wild strawberries and cherries swirl from the glass along with a hint of milk chocolate. On the palate, tart red raspberry joins the flavor profile and lifts the wine to a mouthwatering, refreshing level. Impressive and irresistible!

Copious, rich blackberry fruit, intense black cherry and sweet tannins serve as the red carpet for the peppery finish of this huge California red. Medium-bodied and juicy, it is a true-to-the-varietal fruit bomb. Next time you feel like indulging your palate, reach for this great buy.

Red-ruby. Red berries and Christmas spices on the nose. Supple, rich and accessible; sappy red fruit flavors nicely framed by sweet oak. Finishes with lush tannins and good length. This is balanced for enjoying right now.
